How to present at ALAN 2025
Oral presentations and the poster session will be held between Oct 28-30. To allow as many oral presentations as possible, only the invited speakers will be presenting in plenary sessions, the remaining talks will be in parallel sessions.
On Oct 31, we will have a networking meeting and a Science meets Practice workshop organised with Dark Sky and the newly founded European Light Pollution Coalition. This event is also open for non-ALAN attendees. Posters can still be presented during this event.
Oral presentations (15 min plus 5 min discussion) must be prepared as PowerPoint in advanced. The date will be communicated.
Posters need to be printed in A0 portrait format (118.9cm x 84.1cm). There is a € 100 prize for the best poster by a young researcher (maximum 3 years past PhD). Poster judges are conference attendees selected by the steering committee, and the evaluation criteria are the design, ease of finding information, ability of presenter to explain the results orally, and the novelty of the results.
For abstract questions, please direct inquiries to contact@articifiallightatnight.org.
By submitting an abstract, you confirmed that you agree to license the work under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, and that you are the creator or have permission to so license any images included in the abstract.
Early Stage Researcher Award
A prize of €100 will be awarded to the best poster presented by an early stage researcher (maximum 3 years since PhD awarded). Posters are judged by a group of anonymous senior conference attendees (usually not including members of the steering committee). Posters are rated based on their design, the clarity and accuracy of the information provided, the novelty of the research, and the presenters ability to communicate their results orally.
Conference Proceedings
A PDF booklet of the two-page abstracts will be provided to the conference attendees, and will be made freely available online.
