How to present at ALAN 2025

Oral presentations and the poster session will be held between Oct 28-30. To allow as many oral presentations as possible, only the invited speakers will be presenting in plenary sessions, the remaining talks will be in parallel sessions.

On October 31st, we will have a networking meeting and a Science meets Practice workshop organised with the support of Dark Sky and the newly founded European Light Pollution Coalition. This event is also open for non-ALAN attendees. Posters can still be presented during this event.

Oral presentations will be for 15 minutes plus 5 minutes discussion.

Please send your presentation to info@avacoustics.ie by October 22, 2025 with the subject line ALAN 2025 Presentation and your name and day of presentation.  (When sending, please note email size limits or use WeTransfer.)

The preferred format for presentations is .PPTX or .PDF.  The file name should reflect the presenters name and the day of presentation, e.g. MMouseThursPM.pdf.  Preferred aspect ratio is 16:9 or 16:10.

Presentations will be accepted on USB, on the day, if we are advised in advance to expect them on site.  Presenters’ own laptops can be used for presentations but must have HDMI or USBc connectivity.  Technicians will be on hand for the entire conference duration to assist with any queries and will also be located in the Plenary Hall on Monday October 27th

All screens are 4k in resolution so can accommodate high resolution pictures.

Please do not have any links in your presentation.  Any video, or other external data, must be embedded into your presentation.

Early Stage Researcher Award

A prize of €100 will be awarded to the best poster presented by an early stage researcher (maximum 3 years since PhD awarded). Posters are judged by a group of anonymous senior conference attendees (usually not including members of the steering committee). Posters are rated based on their design, the clarity and accuracy of the information provided, the novelty of the research, and the presenters ability to communicate their results orally.
